A conceptual photographic series exploring the journey of an astronaut returning home after a space expedition, capturing the emotions of homecoming, solitude, and the transition from the vastness of space to the familiarity of life on Earth.
Swarat Ghosh
Photographer in Kolkata. Film and OTT stills, behind-the-scenes, documentary, portraits and conceptual work.
The space between what is seen and what is felt.
For nearly two decades, Swarat worked in the corporate world, building experiences, leading creative teams, and solving visual and storytelling problems across technology, e-commerce and digital products. Today, he is choosing to tell stories through a different medium: photography.
Swarat works as a freelance photographer based in Kolkata, focusing on film and OTT stills, behind-the-scenes photography, documentary, portraits and conceptual photography.
People in ordinary places. Unscripted gestures. A face carrying a story. A strange moment on a familiar street. The quiet tension between people and their surroundings. And sometimes, an idea that exists first in his head and needs to be constructed in front of the camera.
His documentary practice has taken him through streets, neighbourhoods and everyday lives across India, while his conceptual work allows him to explore memory, solitude, identity, freedom and the often-unspoken stories we carry.
His earlier career in visual design still informs the way he works. He understands briefs, visual systems, collaboration, deadlines and production—but photography has given him a different kind of freedom: to observe, interpret and tell stories through a single frame.
Now he is building the next chapter of his practice through collaborations with filmmakers, production houses, agencies, brands, artists and publications. Photography is no longer something he does alongside his career. It is the career he is building.

Water.
A gigantic wave.
The sound of a rushing wind.
Deep blue, touched with a little white.
Pale blue, touched with a deeper white.
So much blue.
So much white.
My favourite colour is white
and
black.
Memories like seashells,
or seashells like memories…
Foolish, am I.
Innocent, am I.
Alone, am I.
My favourite colour is white
and
black.

Lalnu Ropuiliani — Winter Campaign
In August 2024, a fashion campaign was crafted for Lapar, a sustainable Mizoram brand founded by Patricia and inspired by Lalnu Ropuiliani—a fearless freedom fighter of the 1880s.
By merging documentary and fashion photography, the campaign reimagined Ropuiliani’s defiance, bridging her legacy with today’s quest for justice. Against the dramatic backdrop of the Mizo hills, the shoot celebrated how history fuels contemporary narratives and creativity.
